NSV and Exercise Thoughts

I am doing very, very well this week on my eating and exercise- by the end of the week I'll have 42 AP's, and I haven't eaten a single WP. Awesome!

My NSV is this- I am so close to being in the 190's, and I'm so sure I'm going to hit it this week, that I'm actually having to resist the urge to step on the bathroom scale. That is my victory. I'm not a chronic scale-checker... I weigh in once a week at my meetings, and that's it. I don't have the urge to do it at all throughout the week because what's the point? Your weight fluctuates every day, and you can't trust a daily weight, honestly.

But that fact that I am sooooo excited for this weigh in that I am having to fight the urge to step on the scale early is my NSV. Granted, it's not difficult to stay off the damn thing; but hey, I'm doing it! Woooohoooo!

I can't say enough how much changing my exercise routine has helped me. I always swore up and down that I was fine with working out in the afternoons, and you'd never catch me getting up early to exercise! But getting my exercise out of the way first thing in the morning is tremendously helpful in my weight loss efforts. There are several reasons why exercising first thing in the morning (for me) is the best way to go:

1. It's out of the way! I get done with it, and I don't have to worry/think about it all day long.
2. It always gets done. I don't have anything that comes up, and I haven't been awake long enough to make excuses.
3. I don't have to worry about sunburn or heat
4. It's peaceful and quiet, and I get bonding time with my dad (AKA my walking partner)
5. Did I mention that I don't have to even think about it the rest of the day?!

If anyone who is reading this is looking to get more exercise in their day, I would urge you to at least try exercising in the morning. Okay, you have to get up a little earlier- who cares? Go to bed earlier. If you think you'll miss your favorite show, you're wrong... most popular TV shows are shown on either Hulu or the network's website the day after airing, so you can watch 'em whenever. Or get a DVR.

It took a little getting used to, but after a week it was nothing. Now I'm completely used to it, and I'm so happy I made the change.

I hope everyone has as great a week as I am having :)

  1. A DVR saves more time than I care to calculate (or owing to my crappy math skillz, the ability to calculate). I almost never watch anything unless DVRing it first. It cuts so much time out of watching that it's not even funny. And time's the one thing none of us seem to have enough of.

    Good post, Jess.
